Purpose

I'm not sure what the purpose of this article is supposed to be. From the title, it seems like it should be about approving changes i.e. for an administrator, but one already exists at Accept / Reject Changes. However, the content is more about the fact that edits first need to be approved before they are visible to other users.

I propose moving this page to an Editing/Entering Data article which contains generic info about how the users edit data and needs to wait for admin to approve them before they are visible to others. It could then also link to the Accept / Reject Changes article for admins who find themselves at Editing/Entering Data. In addition, the Users_Guide#Editing/Entering_Data section would need to point to Editing/Entering Data as the main source of information.

I can do these changes if you like, I just wanted to give you a heads-up before doing them. --Nath | Talk 18:20, 6 February 2008 (EST)

I am trying to collect here the information for Users Who Edit Data. Those will be administrators, first-time admins, and users who were granted Editing privileges. Of course Admin can modify the rules, so I tried to stress that those are suggestions or templates.

The first thing an Editor sees (in my experience) is that whatever he edits is not visible - either immediately, or not at all. This article should be the first one he reads, to explain that he/she will see the changes ... eventually. Otherwise he/she becomes frustrated, writes emails to admin or PGV forums, or simply gives up.

That as an explanation of the purpose of this section. If you feel another structure will work better here, I am all for it. Do you see a generic Editing / Entering Data article instead of a section in Users Guide? This works fine for me.(I am not sure exactly what document structure you propose).

I agree that the article should have a link to other sources in Wiki, I just did not manage to locate them properly :-(.

Eventually I would like to translate this stuff to Polish, so that most of my Users/Editors could use it, but I would start with the English version. --MarekZ 08:23, 7 February 2008 (EST)
