can't link to an existing media

Dear sirs,

This is the first time i ask for help/support so i don't know if this the right place, any way i give it a shot.

I am running PhpGedView 4.2.4 on a Apple iMac [ OSX 10.11.6 ] I upgraded the php version from an older version . since then i got a lot of error messages and some actions doesn't work any more, like "link to an existing media" [ error 404 ] i can't even find the existing media while i look in the media folder on the server and it is really there. changing a picture as "use main image" doesn't work either. i got the impression that some files are mixed up or wrong permissions.

has anyone any idea ? should i do a complete new clean install ?
