PGVWiki

I helped Laurie start PGVWiki on November 17, 2005. My vision for PGVWiki is that it become the major active Documentation and Support link from www.phpgedview.net. I hope to see the day when the developers and users will forsake the Sourceforge forum and hardcoded help files for links to PGVWiki, and will frequent PGVWiki as they now frequent the SourceForge forums and update PGVWiki articles as they now update the hard-coded php help text.

PhpGedView

I first installed PhpGedView in February 2004. It was my first experience with the following tools and environments:

My phpGedView site is at http://www.hawsedc.com/phpGedView. I try to run a reasonably current version there.

I initially worked with the PGV developer team on the English documentation. That required my installing CVS (shudder); John Finlay was very patient with me. I made quite a few CVS bloopers. I hope there are no hard feelings that I didn't end up contributing much with the CVS access John granted me.

Adding

My testing area

  • w:Main Page Hmm. This is supposed to point to English Wikipedia. Interwiki links not working.
  • es:Main Page, fr:Main Page, nl:Main Page, dn:Main Page Until the multi-language feature is fixed, these merely point to the English Main Page or a non-functioning url. Afterward, they will point to non-existent articles called Main Page at other language PGVWikis.
Could this be the ... wiktionary:Main Page ... perhaps? You have to run interwiki.sql from the maintenanc subdirectory after installation to incorporate changes... Gordo 07:42, 12 December 2005 (EST)

Misc scratchpad

I needed a scratchpad and this is all I had handy at the moment.

Message from Laurie

I see the dates in the format that is set up for my computer and that is the Australian standard dd/mm/yyyy. I was under the impresssion that the dates format came from your computer but I can look up the settings. There are no date settings that I am aware of in the configuration but I will look in the default file for an answer.

I am not sure what you are referring to as the footnotes can you give me a link please Tom.

Distant Hello

Hi Tom,

Have not said anything to you for a while so I hope that I all is well with you and the family - Hope I have not done anything to offend you and getting the cold shoulder :-).

As I was doing some edits and all I thought I should just drop you a line to see if you had a good Christmas and New Year. Been very busy over here and not much time to do the things I enjoy doing. Family tree research has taken a back seat for a while. Hope 2007 will be better for it. Wiki maintenance has also been in the back seat for a while too, just doing the absolute basics.

Not much action/use/movement in non english wikis either - bit of a shame but at least the English one is getting some attention. Though you might be interested in some of the stats for 2006.

Mind you the last sweep by google on the 31/12 was a 1 gig download.

All the best for the New Year.
