Multimedia Directory
The path to a directory readable and writable by the webserver where PhpGedView should store media files (include the trailing "/"). PhpGedView does not require this directory's name to be "media/". You can choose any name you like. See Configuration_-_Multimedia#Multimedia_Directory for more information.

You can move media files to a protected directory outside the webserver accessible area (i.e. outside where a URL can retrieve them). See Media_Firewall for more information. Note that if you do this, you must still have a "media/" directory in the webserver accessible area as the Media_Firewall works by trapping the error when the file is not found in this default place.

Need to verify the following statement: MarekZ
For security, this directory should be placed somewhere in the server's file space that is not accessible from the Internet. An example of such a structure follows:
PhpGedView: dir1/dir2/dir3/PhpGedView
Media: dir1/dir4/dir5/dir6/media

For the example shown, you would enter ../../dir4/dir5/dir6/media/ in this field.
